WATCH! BENN VS EUBANK – ON THIS DAY IN 1990

One of the greatest rivalries and fights in British boxing history.

On this day in 1990, Chris Eubank challenged WBO Champion Nigel Benn for the Middleweight title in Birmingham in the kind of war reserved only for bitter enemies.

The contract was signed live on TV and the two men had this to say:

“He’s all hype, he’s all hype, and I can’t wait on November the 18th to give him a good, good hiding! The public is demanding this… I am determined to go out there, firing on all cylinders” said Nigel Benn.

Eubank replied “He’s just a puncher, he’s only got a punchers chance. I can punch as hard as he can, I can box, I can slug, although he is a great puncher, he has nothing else other than that.”
