DO NOT MISS POTENTIAL FIGHT OF THE YEAR!

With the recent Jose Ramirez vs Maurice Hooker & Errol Spence Jr vs Shawn Porter bouts, it seems that unifying titles is in fashion at the moment. Now we can add the mouth-watering Light heavyweight title bout, between Russia’s IBF champion Artur Beterbiev and Ukraine’s WBC champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk.

This is the best matchup the division has seen since Sergey Kovalev fought two controversial fights with Andre Ward back in 2016-2017.

Beterbiev (34) and Gvozdyk (32) are both unbeaten as pro’s and have decorated amateur backgrounds. Beterbiev has a pro record of 14-0, all coming by way of knockout and twice beat Kovalev in the amateurs, finishing with an unbelievable record of 295-5. His Ukrainian opponent currently sits at 17-0 (14 KO) as a pro after finishing in the amateurs with a record of 220-30. There is an added element of a ‘Repeat or Revenge’ storyline, as these guys fought as amateurs in 2009, with Beterbiev taking the victory.

Gvozdyk is known more as an all-round boxer and Beterbiev for his outstanding knockout power. A tactical game of chess will favour the Ukrainian whilst a physical game will be to the linking of the Russian.

It’s a genuine 50/50 title clash and its coming at just the right time in their careers.

The fight is live on ESPN & ESPN Deportes on Saturday October 18th and we expect it to be a fight of the year candidate. Don’t miss it!
