In 1976, just 19 days after beating Saoul Mamby, the Panamanian legend traveled to Lou Bizzaro’s hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania to defend his WBA Lightweight world title.

Sending the Italian to the canvas twice before the bell in the 10th round, the brave challenger did well to continue in the huge ring. In the 14th round, Roberto Duran finished him with a devastating knockout.
