WHO’S NEXT FOR CRAWFORD & TEOFIMO?

After their impressive wins at the weekend, we asked the fans who they think Terence Crawford and Teofimo Lopez should fight next.

For TBUD, many fans would have picked a super fight with Errol Spence in 2020, however it seems now that a return for the unified welterweight champion is not close. Bob Arum told iFL TV last week, that he has received inside intelligence casting doubts that Spence will be back in the ring in the foreseeable future.

Other than Spence, the top 3 names mentioned by the fans were Manny Pacquiao, Danny Garcia & Shawn Porter.

Manny Pacquao’s team recently announced that they are looking at either Mikey or Danny Garcia. Danny Garcia has opted to face Ivan Redkach in a WBC welterweight title eliminator on January 25 which is live on Showtime from the Barclay’s Center, which makes the Mikey Garcia fight most likely.

This leaves Shawn Porter for Crawford, who would be Boxing Guru’s pick as it would provide a tough challenge for both fighters and would allow us to compare to Spence performance back in September. However it is known that Crawford and Porter are friends which may make things more difficult.

Crawford told the media at the post match presser that a fight with Shawn Porter would be ‘up to them’ but they haven’t had that discussion as of yet. “That fight is not even in my head right now.”

Promoter Bob Arum spoke to Fight Hub TV and is keen to make the fight, “For me, I’ve learned one thing, a fight really doesn’t sell unless its close to 50/50…I think Crawford & Porter will be within that margin.”

For Teofimo, a fight with Lomachenko seems destined according to Bob Arum, “We’re looking for April, I think both guys want to do it here (MSG, New York)”.
