Haney vs Garcia – Tipped by many to become one of the great fights in the next couple of years and with Matchroom Boxing’s head Eddie Hearn beliving a lightweight clash between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia is an absolute MUST it is likely to be an explosive super fight.
Haney’s text to Garcia
Haney made headlines back in April after Garcia tweeted out a screenshot of a text sent by Haney, saying “Ima f— u up just letting u know.”
Although Devin Haney was hostile, he clearly respects Garcia as a fighter. On the amateur fights he has had with Garcia, he said: “Every fight was competitive,” None of the fights were easy. Ryan’s always been good, so that’s why I’m not surprised at the noise he’s making. I’ve always said that because I know his skill set, his crazy amateur experience, and the crazy amount of national titles. I knew one day he would be big.”
Will Haney vs Garcia actually happen?
With both men fighting on the DAZN platform, the fight is on paper a much easier to negotiate and Ryan Garcia told Sirus XM Fight Nation, “I’m here to shock the world in 2020 and cement myself at the top of everybody”. Garcia commented on our recent post to say “I am just speaking from the heart, everything anyone says is always crazy and out of reach until it’s done.”
Two outstanding & undefeated boxing talents Devin Haney (24-0, 15 KO’s) and Ryan Garcia (19-0, 16 KO’s) have met before in the amateur days. The two prospects already have a big rivalry from fighting six times back in the amateurs with the scores level at 3-3.
