Errol Spence and Danny Garcia took to social media last night to announce their highly anticipated welterweight clash set for November 21 on Fox PPV, with the venue yet to be confirmed.
Unified King of the Welterweight division, Errol Spence, looks to return to the ring for the first time this year following his infamous, horrifying car accident.
The Texan refused a ‘tune-up’ fight thus is set to face a high calibre opponent in Danny Garcia, the former two-division world champion who hasn’t held a world title since his loss to Keith Thurman in 2017.
The pair were scheduled to collide this January but Spence’s Ferrari flipping a few months prior saw him sustain facial injuries that side-lined him from any action in the near future.
Unbelievably, the current WBC & IBF world champion is already fully recovered and can finish the postponed job he had at hand against a hungry Garcia.
In his toe to toe tear up against then WBC Champion Shawn Porter, Spence proved that he can stand and bang and still reign supreme over the most ferocious in the division albeit this victory came by way of a split decision.

Danny ‘Swift’ Garcia isn’t the same fighter as Porter and instead has a more composed style of accurate counterpunching. This type of boxing wasn’t effective enough for the judges when he fought ‘Showtime’ Shawn for world honours though and tasted defeat through a narrow decision.
The theory that ‘Swift’ would get dominated by Spence just because they had different outcomes against a separate fighter is very inconclusive when split decisions are involved.
A welterweight both men have gone to battle with is Samuel Vargas. He spoke to Boxing Guru to provide exclusive insight and prediction on how he thinks this 12-rounder would play out.

Anxious eyes will be set on the current Champion to see if his freak car accident has been detrimental to his physical or mental ability in the ring. Yet he still comes in as a hot favourite and here is why.
The 30-year-old is not just unorthodox with his southpaw stance, but also lands punches at different angles that most boxers are not used to.
For example, Spence time and again aims his left hand to counterpunch an Orthodox opponent when they throw their lead left. This is irregular as a straight left punch against a right-handed opponent usually lands at the right side of their face, however, Spence has the ability to follow this punch across to the other side of the opponent’s head.
Of course, this can be blocked but it is easier said than done as the Texan uses this weapon when an opponent throws their lead left, exposing that side of their face. This will spell danger for Garcia as he is very frequent in throwing his lead left hook.
Spence also uses this well-crafted technique to go to the body. In doing so, he tends to follow it up with a lead hook of his own, however being a Southpaw, this comes from his right hand. This will properly test the blocking ability of ‘DSG’ as he will have to try and prepare for powerful, accurate punches coming from both downstairs and upstairs.

The stances may look suited to favour the highly ranked Pound-for-Pound Welterweight, but it could be a blessing in disguise for the challenger. This is because he is almost notorious for his finely tuned left hook which can be put into use to counter the quick jab of Spence.
When Spence peppers his jab, he will be leaving the right side of his head unguarded which Garcia will have to punish with his counter lead hook if he wishes to become a 4-time world champion on the night.
A difference between the two is their physical traits. ‘Swift’ is the shorter of the pair, with a reach (68.5 inches) almost identical to Spence’s former opponent Mikey Garcia (68 inches). The Former four-weight world champion had the breaks beaten off him as Spence settled behind his jab and rattled off combinations after establishing his distance.
He may be strategizing the same battle plan against the other Garcia so the challenger will have to become a bit more active with his business and come forward frequently to try and neutralise the reach advantage. The 32-year-old possesses a weapon that will work wonders for him if this is how the fight plays out.
Garcia yields an astounding overhand right hand which has previously broken his opponent’s guards alongside their fighting spirit as the punch has sent many to the canvas. Using this will be a way to get on the inside, where he needs to be to find success.
Judging from the Porter fight, the boxer who applies punches in volumes trumps the concise punching of Garcia. The elite-level conditioning of Spence means he is suited to go into deep waters while maintaining an incredibly high punch output.
This is likely to be the defining factor between the pair making it most probable that there will be no shock upset. The reigning champion should make his very first successful title defence of his newly collected WBC belt in a comeback fight for the ages.
