MONSTER INOUE SET FOR APRIL UNIFICATION!

An exciting unification fight between the IBF & WBA Bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue and WBO champion John Riel Casimero will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 25. Inoue will be making his Top Rank debut after signing a multi=fight deal with Bob Arum and the fight will be shown live on ESPN, with an official announcement expected soon.

Boxing Guru understood ‘The Monster’ was looking to unify before moving up to 122 pounds and this would then only leave the WBC title (currently held by undefeated Nordine Oubaali) to complete the collection and become undisputed. Oubaali is expected to face Inoue’s conquest Nonito Donaire next, with purse bids looming unless the teams can agree a deal quickly.

Despite coming off a career best win last November against Nonito Donaire to take the WBA title, Inoue took significant damage suffering a broken orbital bone over his right eye as well as a fracture to his nose. Casimero, who is promoted by Manny Pacquiao’s company, has held world titles in 3 divisions and is coming off a good win himself, upsetting Zolani Tete with 3rd round knockout back in November. The Filipino who also has knockout wins over Amnat Ruenroeng and former WBC Flyweight champion Charlie Edwards is an aggressive inside side fighter with power, hasn’t been stopped since 2011 and will game to slug it out with Japan’s superstar.

The IBF had orgianlly ordered Inoue to face mandatory Michael Dasmarinas, who won a final eliminator in March, but the sanctioning body’s own rules stipulate that unification takes precedence and so sets up another exciting matchup in the lighter divisions.

Our friends over at Motivedia created this fantastic video presentation of Inoue and assessed if ‘The Monster’ really is the most fearsome puncher…
