Live on UFC Fight Pass from The Commerce Casino and Hotel undefeated Irish star Callum Walsh improved his perfect record to 7-0 with an emphatic stoppage over Carson Jones. Jones may not be the top of the line competition, but this is a clear step up for Walsh. It may have been 3 am in Ireland, but Walsh came to play on Saturday night.
On Friday, “King” left nothing to the imagination as he decimated Jones from the opening bell. With over 60 professional fights under his belt Jones was a big step up in competition for the young Walsh. The Irishman was all business and had his way in this one. After suffering a cut from an accidental clash of heads early into the fight Walsh unloaded offense in flurries and eventually scored a knockdown in the fourth round.

Jones, who has only been stopped a handful of times throughout his long career, was able to shake it off and get back to his feet. That was until Walsh quickly rushed in again and delivered the finishing touches on his TKO stoppage at the end of the 4th round. The super middleweight rising prospect has a lot of intangibles that could take him far, with his confidence being at the top of that list.

Most impressive about the 22-year-old is his maturity and confidence. During the post fight interview in the ring the Freddie Roach trained Walsh said “I’m throwing every punch with bad intentions. I knew I had him ready to go and took care of business. A good win against a very experienced fighter, I’m happy with my performance. I’m very happy winning this title but there’s much more to come.””
Callum Walsh has had a very unique start to his boxing career. At only 7-0, Walsh has amassed a large following due to UFC president Dana White. Tom Loeffler, 360 promotions, Dana White and the UFC social media team have pushed Walsh since the start of his career.
When asked about what it meant for Dana to be his biggest supporter, Walsh responded, “Everything he does, everything he touches explodes. Adding, “there’s a reason why I’m the main event… you’ve seen what I’ve done out there.” Not many fighters are scheduled for a 10-round main event in their 6th fight.
