James “Fresh Prince” Earle is a name that the average fan may not know, but some top contenders in the sport are very familiar with the explosive lightweight fighter.

The impressive list of sparring partners does the talking for itself, with the likes of Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, Vergil Ortiz Jr, Maurice Hooker, Regis Prograis, Elvis Rodriguez, Alex Saucedo and Marco Deckman, who is four divisions above Earle. He simply doesn’t fear anyone inside the ring, and is ready for the long road to becoming a World Champion.

Earle recalled sparring with Ryan Garcia where in the last 10 seconds, Garcia tried to “take my head off.” The Golden Boy superstar was not anticipating the challenge that “Fresh Prince” gave him, and ultimately backed down from sparring with him in the future.

Back in 2017, Earle responded to a tweet sent out by Tank Davis, suggesting that everyone was too scared to spar against him. Davis extended an invitation to Earle, and the fearless fighter flew out to Baltimore the very next day. Earle remembers showing up to the gym and everyone was shocked that he actually did. Tank had become infamous for his aggressive sparring, often knocking his partners out. Earle didn’t back down and helped Davis prepare for his title fight against Jose Pedraza.

“Before the last round, I remember Tank telling me he was going to knock me out, and he went for it, but I held my own and didn’t get knocked out.”

Earle’s competitiveness as a sparring partner even caught the eye of legend Floyd Mayweather Jr.. While sparring super welterweight Thomas Hill, “Fresh Prince” had Money Mayweather coaching him in his corner. A memory that will last a life time for the young man, and another prime example of his sparring resume doing the talking for itself.

Earle is no stranger to well-known trainers, as he’s worked with Vince Parra and Buddy McGirt. His connection with Parra landed him a sparring gig with Mighty Mo Hooker. Connections are something that the young fighter prides himself on. He has become friends with a number of celebrities as a result of his humble personality and networking skills.

Though his professional career is just getting started, his networking has resulted in over 35K Instagram followers. He has friendships “with a lot of celebrities, artists Ginuwine, K Camp, Bino Rideaux and BlueBucks Clan. I actually lived and worked with Orlando Scandrick from the Dallas Cowboys, he’s like my mentor.”

He lived with the NFL defensive back for six months in San Diego, and the pair still talk everyday. His relationship with Bino Rideaux and BlueBucks Clan landed him his first sponsor, Out of the Blue Records. “I try to treat people the right way, and always be respectful,” a mature statement by a young athlete trying to make a name for himself.

THE BOXING GAME YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!

Earle is off to a 4-0 start in his professional career, with 3 wins being by KO. He made his professional debut against Edgar Ivan Garcia in October 2019, scoring the unanimous decision victory in the 4-round contest. His opponent came in overweight, but Earle and his team decided to go ahead with the bout. He controlled the fight with his jab, and almost ended it with a fourth round knock-down. When asked about this fight, Earle said, “at this point of my young career, my debut was actually the hardest fight.” Garcia’s size and experience proved to be a problem for the up-and-comer.

After his tough debut fight, Earle scored back-to-back TKO victories over Bryan Christopher Garcia and Yahir Patino. In February 2020, he followed those up with his first career KO against Jesus Isidro Gomez. Wearing the late Kobe Bryant on his trunks, Earle scored the knockout in the first 30 seconds with a left hook to the body.

Due to COVID-19, “Fresh Prince” hasn’t been inside the ring since. He’s had two fights cancelled throughout the pandemic. He looks forward to getting back to action and mastering his craft. At 5’10” he’s taller than most lightweight fighters, using his reach as    an advantage. He controls fights with his jab and defense, then unleashes his power punches in a timely manner.

The 24-year-old is originally from Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Growing up, he played multiple sports, with baseball being his main focus. His hometown hosted the Little League Baseball World Series, kickstarting his love for the sport. He thrived on being in the middle of the action and found himself a home at shortstop. Earle was confident enough in his abilities to say he thought that he had the chance to go pro. An unexpected twist of fate led him to boxing, where he found a new dream of going pro. His uncle introduced him to boxing as a outlet for staying out of trouble, where he realized the boxing gym is the only place where you can’t get in trouble for fighting. He’s been fighting for his legacy ever since.

He then moved to San Diego, California which brought about his nickname “Fresh Prince.” After four years in California, the orthodox-style fighter now lives in Dallas, Texas and is managed by Jason Fowler and ESEMG. He is currently trained by Vergil Oritiz Sr., Hector Beltran and Carlos Martinez at his home gym, Irving PAL. He hopes to land a fight on the Ortiz Jr. vs Hooker undercard on March 20th in his new hometown. His familiarity with both camps makes the perfect match. When asked about the outcome of the fight, Earle responded “those are both of my boys, so I don’t want to make a prediction, but I don’t see the fight going the distance.”

The young prospect will continue to use his strong combination of boxing and networking skills to advance his career.
