Many of you saw reports in the press over the weekend suggesting the third heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder is now off – but the Wilder camp insists otherwise.

Fury claimed earlier today that organizers have failed to deliver the date and so he has moved on. “We were supposed to fight in July but he pulled out with an injury. They first asked me if we could push the fight later this year in December and I agreed but then they asked for the trilogy fight to be moved to next year. This is when I thought to myself ‘enough is enough’ and its time for me to move on.”

Top Rank boss Bob Arum admitted it is likely Fury could be fighting someone other than Deontay Wilder in December with the Gypsy King looking to stay busy and sharp setting up the mouthwatering undisputed blockbuster battle with Anthony Joshua in 2021.

“On December 19, when we really hoped to stage the fight with Fury and Wilder, we were informed by both ESPN, which handles Fury, and Fox, which handles Wilder, that December 19 isn’t available because there are five college football championships that day, which are massive, and two NFL games. December 19 can’t occur and there are no other available dates where a Wilder vs Fury fight can happen in December.

Tyson’s co-promoter Frank Warren told BT Sport its unlikely he will have the Wilder trilogy fight. “We tried very hard to make it happen, both sides, but it’s looking like it’s not going to happen. Tyson has been training solidly since February, and he wants to fight this year. He will fight this year whatever happens. If the fight can’t be delivered during the contractual period, then Tyson will move on and maybe revisit it another time.”

THE BOXING GAME YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!

Contrary to the above, Deontay Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel insists the rematch clause hasn’t expired and Wilder-Fury 3 would still be going ahead before the end of 2020. “They are wrong, we will fight in December.”

Fury’s attempt to scrap the Wilder trilogy has not also been agreed with the WBC so things are still up in the air as to whether we will see Wilder-Fury 3. One thing that is for sure, Tyson Fury will be back in the ring before we see the back of 2020.
