WTF is the referee doing here?

In 1990, a few days ago, we witnessed one of the most shocking moments seen in boxing, which left viewers thinking ‘WTF is the referee doing here?’

Inexcusably, Referee Roger Yanez failed to step in despite 40 unanswered punches from Alex Garica which eventually sent the defenseless Bernard Benton to the canvas.

This concerning moment came about in the second round as Garcia landed significant left and right hands on the back-foot which stunned his opponent.

Benton backed into the corner and was chased by the heavy hitting Garcia who kept pounding away with flush left hooks and right crosses.

With no absolutely no sign of Yanez, the then-prospect kept pin-balling his opponents head around the ropes until Benton slumped to the floor, suffering too much punishment.

The incompetent referee finally realized the man was physically finished and stopped the fight awarding Garcia the win he should’ve earned over 30 punches ago.
