Hollywood star and Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx has put an end to the rumors confirming that he will play the former ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’, Mike Tyson in an upcoming biopic.
“It’s a definitive yes.” Foxx told Mark Birnbaum. “Doing biographies is a tough thing. Sometimes it takes 20 years to get it done but we officially got the real ball rolling,” he said. “I can’t wait to show people what it is.”
As Tyson recently hit the headlines for a proposed return to the ring, Foxx revealed the insane changes he is making to his body in preparation for the highly anticipated movie. He has been bulking up with an extreme exercise regime which includes 60 pull-ups, 60 dips, and 100 push-ups every other day. His weight at filming, he said, would start at 216 pounds and increase to 230 pounds which would equate to 250 pounds on screen.
“So I started hanging out with Mike Tyson so I got to see Mike in two different ways, two different lives. I saw him at the height of his career and then when things got bad, things got bumpy, I also saw him as well, so what I’m excited about the movie is to show those moments of the different Mike.”
In more recent years, Tyson has bounced back and Foxx hopes to show audiences a new side of a happy Tyson.
“We want to show everybody evolves. Everybody comes from a good or bad place and I think when we lay the layers on Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this man’s journey and the way we’ll place it.”
Foxx gave fans a SNEAK PEEK of what to expect, brilliantly describing the opening to the movie and an insight into his impressive Mike Tyson impersonation.
When asked about a release date, Jamie Foxx was tight-lipped and simply replied, “It’s coming!”
