On April 10th rising welterweight star Conor “The Destroyer” Benn will face off against gritty veteran Samuel Vargas in what some fans believe will be a back and forth, war of attrition.

Benn’s latest outing was a breakout performance last November, winning a one sided decision against former IBO champion Sebastien Formella. Sporting a record of 17 – 0 with 11 KO’s, Benn will put his WBA continental welterweight title on the line against a true test in Vargas.

A professional since 2010 Vargas has fought the likes of Errol Spence Jr., Danny Garcia and Amir Khan to name a few. Although the Colombian-Canadian fighter has been criticized for coming up short in high profile fights, Vargas is still a very dangerous competitor, something “The Destroyer” needs to remain conscious of.

If Benn is able to put it all together and get his hand raised over Vargas, a variety of interesting matchups become available. Benn has recently stated he is open to stepping inside the ring with fellow countrymen, Amir Khan and Kell Brook.

While it’s exciting to speculate on upcoming challenges for Benn, we cannot look past the extremely tough and durable Vargas, who might stop the Benn bandwagon in its tracks.
