Mike Tyson’s first nationally televised bout was against Jess Ferguson on the 16th February 1986.

Today marks 35 years since ‘Iron Mike’s’ 18th professional victory in Troy, New York City.

Ferguson became the first man to take Tyson into round six, but the ‘Boogieman’ was disqualified for continually failing to release on the break.

Originally, the disqualification resulted in Tyson losing his knockout streak. The result however, was later changed to a TKO. It was Tyson’s 17th knockout victory.
