When Saul “Canelo” Alvarez first faced off against Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin, Canelo was a 27-year-old superstar making his case to be the face of boxing. Five years later, Canelo not only has become the face of boxing but is still continuing to reach new heights rarely seen in all of boxing history. The Mexican standout has cleared out weight divisions, sold out football arenas, and amassed an army of fans worldwide that watch his every fight. Now at 32 years old, Canelo is in the biggest fight of his legendary career when he faces off against Kazakhstan’s greatest fighter ever for the third time in his career. Coming off of a loss to Light Heavyweight Champion and rising superstar in his own right, Dmitrii Bivol, Canelo looks to finally shut the door on his chapter with Triple G and prove the doubters wrong in T-Mobile Arena on September 17th.

The expectations for Canelo are always the same, win via domination. A task that no one has yet to accomplish. The legendary, now 40-year-old from Kazakhstan, has a near- perfect record of 40-1-1, with his lone loss a controversial majority decision victory to his rival. This fight comes at a perfect time for both fighters, both have a point to prove, and it showed in a heated lead-up. Coming off a loss, Canelo needs to win, or he will be faced with a two-fight skid for the first time in his career. Golovkin, on the other hand, is looking to prove to the world that he is the better fighter and deserved victories in both of their prior bouts. Looking at their last fights, GGG showed no signs of letting his age catch up to him when he stopped Ryota Murata in April. On the other hand, Canelo lost in May when he tried to take the WBA Super World Light Heavyweight Title from undefeated Russian Dmitrii Bivol, a shock to the boxing world.
