Logan Paul is set to appeal his points loss to British rival KSI, after being docked 2 points in round 4 for an illegal blow. The American was not happy with the result and believes he was handed the deduction without any prior warning – his trainer Shannon Briggs agreed, “They did my man dirty last night… they cheated him, dirty ass Eddie Hearn”
For those interested in seeing what kind of impact this event had on the pro boxers on the undercard – Devin Haney and Billy Joe Saunders’ both shot up on Google analytics, and had more than a million impressions since the weigh-in. To put things in perspective, Spence-Porter had 55,000 impressions their entire fight week.
WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney (24-0 15KO) suffered a suspected shoulder dislocation during his dominant points victory, over previously unbeaten Alfredo Santiago. The American knocked down Santiago in the 5th before the injury occurred, which forced him to retreat and move around the ring to which the fans booed.
“My shoulder is alright. I think in the 7th or 8th round, I threw a right hand and it came out of the socket,” Haney said. “Right now, I’m icing it. Hopefully, it heals up fast.”
Hany reiterated his desire for BIG FIGHTS next year by calling out Lomachencko, Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia. Any one of these fights in 2020 would be a blockbuster for the fans, lets hope the promoters make it happen!
Billy Joe Saunders admitted his performance was below par, despite finding a late knockout whilst feeling the effects of jet lag and a chest infection.
His promoter Eddie Hearn said “If it had gone to points, he would have won, but it would have been a bit of a stinker. It was a brilliant finish. Billy Joe is one of the top fighters in the world, but tonight he looked flat. I believe he’ll get Canelo next, but if he doesn’t, then I want him to fight Callum Smith in Anfield.
